Overview

eSmart Networks were appointed to complete the installation and connection for a new 50kw Rapid Charger, within a Morrisons supermarket carpark. The connection required a new LV way within the onsite substation.

Challenges

  • Shutdown and then reenergise of existing substation to enable connection.
  • Existing substation supplied the electricity to the Morrisons supermarket and petrol station.

Solution

We coordinated and completed liaison and negotiation between our end client and the local DNO to complete the connection. We completed a portion of the works before the shutdown commenced and ensured our works where complete in readiness for the shutdown.

Our existing, good relationships with local DNO enabled the completion of the connection with as little disruption as possible.

Outcome

The shutdown of power of functional supermarket and petrol station to install an EV charger were unprecedented works. Therefore, successful completion of the project ensures confidence for our customers future sites where a connection requires substation shutdown.
